Effective September 24th, the Application Programming Interface (API) SnapStream uses to post to Periscope will no longer be available, as Periscope has ended support for its product.  Due to this development, the Periscope drop down option within the SnapStream application will no longer be functional. 

As of March 31, 2021, the Periscope app has been discontinued by its parent company, Twitter. This means that new Periscope accounts cannot be created, and new broadcasts to Periscope cannot be started from the app, although existing broadcasts will remain available at Periscope.tv.

According to Twitter's official statement, "[f]or broadcasters who use external encoders, you will still be able to create broadcasts programmatically for a limited time through the Periscope public API."

The SnapStream integration with Periscope falls into this category. This means that SnapStream users who already have a Periscope account will be able to create new broadcasts from within the SnapStream UI, for as long as the Periscope API remains active. 

If your Periscope account is linked to a Twitter account, broadcasts sent to Periscope from SnapStream will also appear on Twitter Live under that account. Twitter has stated that "[y]ou can no longer link a Periscope account to Twitter," meaning that if your Periscope account is not already linked to a Twitter account, you will not be able to send streams to Twitter Live via the Periscope in SnapStream.

We expect that Twitter will make API connections for Twitter Live available in the near future, and when that happens SnapStream will investigate adding Twitter Live integration to our product.
