Users of the Enterprise TV Server who have more than one TV source available, for example, both a DirecTV feed and an in-house cable feed, may wish to set up the Enterprise Server to capture from both sources. This article gives information on how multiple sources are managed by Enterprise TV, as well as instructions for setting up the Enterprise Server for capture from multiple sources.
Enterprise TV is built on an Electronic Program Guide, which aggregates all channels available to all tuners into a single grid. It is designed for scheduling of a recording to be done based on the channel on the recording appears, not the tuning input on which it will be captured. In order to use multiple TV sources, each source must have a lineup. Then each lineup must be associated with the tuners which receive a signal from that source.
If your TV source comes directly from your cable or satellite provider, use the Enterprise TV Setup Wizard to create a lineup with guide data. See the SnapStream Help File for assistance with the Setup Wizard.
If you have a cable lineup that is modulated in-house, you can create a lineup through the Web Admin by opening Settings=>Channels and clicking Create New. Note: Lineups created through the Web Admin will not receive guide data.

Once your lineups have been created, each tuner must have a lineup assigned to it. Open the Web Admin and navigate to Settings=> Audio and Video Inputs. Click the Edit Settings link next to a tuner to change the lineup associated with it. Note: Each tuner can only be associated with a single lineup.
For each source, make sure that the Video Input is set appropriately for the source that is connected to each tuner (Video Tuner [i.e. coaxial cable], Composite or S-Video).
A word on tuner priority
Enterprise TV will use tuners for recordings based on the order in which the tuners appear on the Audio and Video Inputs page. The tuner at the top of the list will be used first, and the tuner at the bottom will be used last. The order of priority can be adjusted by clicking the "up" and "down" buttons to move tuners around in the list.
When tuners are configured with different lineups, tuner priority can have an effect on scheduling. In general, conflicts will be easier to avoid if lineups with fewer channels are listed higher in the priority list.
For example, say tuner A receives a standard cable lineup with channels 1-80, and tuner B receives a digital cable lineup with channels 1-500, including the 80 channels available to tuner A. Say that one recording is scheduled from 7-8 PM on channel 50, and one recording is scheduled from 7:30-8:30 on channel 200.
If tuner A is listed first (highest priority), the recording on channel 50 will be dispatched to tuner A at 7 PM. Then the recording on channel 200 will be dispatched on tuner B at 7:30. Both recordings will occur as scheduled.
If tuner B is listed first, the recording on channel 50 will be dispatched on tuner B at 7 PM. However, the recording on channel 200 cannot be dispatched on tuner A, because tuner A does not receive that channel. The 7:30 recording will fail to record and will be marked by Enterprise TV as a conflict.
On the other hand, say the 7 PM recording is scheduled on channel 200, and the 7:30 PM recording is on channel 50.
If tuner A is listed first, Enterprise TV will attempt to schedule the recording on channel 200 on tuner A, but it will be unable to do so. It will look at the next tuner in the list. Tuner B receives channel 200 and is not currently occupied, so the recording will be dispatched. Tuner A is still available for the 7:30 recording on channel 50.
If tuner B is listed first, the recording on channel 200 will be dispatched to tuner B at 7 PM, and the recording on channel 50 will be dispatched to tuner A at 7:30 PM.
Note: If the same channel appears in multiple lineups on different frequencies, individual recording jobs must be scheduled to occur on Any Channel in order for conflict management to work properly for that channel. This can be set in the Viewscape in Setup Recordings=>Recording Settings and Priorities, or in the Web Admin, by clicking on Edit in the Setup Recordings page.
