Choppy / Stuttering Playback in the web player when using Internet Explorer 9 (IE9)

Description: 

Playback in the Web Player stutters when using Internet Explorer 9.  Other browsers are not affected.

 

Cause:

Scrolling anywhere on the Web Player page will cause a significant CPU usage spike in Internet Explorer 9.  This is what is causing your choppy playback experience.  More information about this issue can be found here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885355

 

Work Around: 

To work around this issue, disable the Use smooth scrolling option in Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options, and then click the Advanced tab.
  2. Click to clear the Use smooth scrolling check box.

 

Resolution: 

Upgrade to a later version of Internet Explorer or use another browser.
