Question:
Q1: What happens if I run out of storage on my Moco server?
Q2: Can my Moco server use my third-party network-attached storage (NAS) or storage area network (SAN)?
Q3: Can I or should I set my Default Recording Folder to my external location?
Answer:
A1: As the storage drive fills up, your Moco server will automatically purge the oldest content on the machine. Clips are not affected by this action as they are locked. Clips will need to be manually deleted by the user or Admin or a workflow (automation) can be implemented to delete or unlock clips after a certain amount of days.
A2: You are able to implement your 3rd party storage solution onto your Moco server. The server will need to be able to communicate with the network storage location in order to properly added. You can add the NAS or SAN via UNC or map it to a local drive letter and add that as a video folder.
NOTE: If you are using an external storage location as an Inputs folder, you will need to purchase an Indexing License in order for your content to be searchable.
Using your 3rd party network storage as an export location does not require an Indexing license as this is not indexed for searching.

What are the different ways to export TV content out of Moco?
A3: No. The rate at which data is written and the checks that your Moco server makes on these files, it requires a level of stability that is not available from an external location. We strongly recommend against setting the Default Recording Folder to an external location. Doing so may result in recording errors or corruption.
