Introducing Speaker ID

Starting in version 23.1 transcribed recordings now include a new feature that's known as Speaker ID. When a recording is being transcribed, the transcription engine will automatically identify and notate the speaker that is currently speaking with the transcript.

The system assigns a generic identifier based on the order that the speakers began speaking. For example, the first detected speaker will be assigned Speaker 1. The next speaker will be assigned an ID of Speaker 2 and so on.

Editing the name of a speaker
If you would like to assign a name or identifier to a speaker, then perform the following steps.

  1. Locate the speaker's current ID within the transcript and click the drop down arrow.
  2. In the edit field, enter the desired name or ID and click Save.

Note: When a Speaker ID is updated, the update is also applied to all other instances of that labeled speaker throughout the transcript.

  2. In the edit field, enter the desired name or ID and click Save.
    Or
Click the X in the edit field to reset the Speaker ID back to the original name.

Search By Speaker ID

Within the SnapStream search bar, you can search for recordings where a particular speaker has been identified. Simply use the SPEAKER: search operator.

For example, if you would like to search for the report Kilmeny Duchard, then you would enter SPEAKER: "Kilmeny Duchard"

Note: In order to search by Speaker ID, the ID must first exist in a recording.

Note: If the Speaker ID contains a space (i.e First Name Last Name), then the name must be encapsulated in quotes.

Beginning in version 23.2 the Speaker ID feature can be disabled. To disable the feature, navigate to Admin > Recording and locate the Use Speaker Id with Transcription option. Switch this option to Off to disable the Speaker ID feature.
