What is the Notify feature and how does it work?
Answer:
The Notify page is used to send warning emails or Slack messages for specific issues regarding your SnapStream instance.
To first set it up:
- Head over to Admin --> Notify
- Select Add Notify Group
- Give that group a user-friendly name.
- Enter the emails and/or Slack Channels you would like the notifications to be sent to.
(For 21.1 and newer) To Customize which Sources you would like to notified about:
1. Simply select All Sources if you want to get notifications from all of your Tuners and Streams or select individual tuners and streams.
For Tuners, the Name and Source Name will be the same.
For Streams, the Name will hold the title of your Stream and the Source Name will hold the HLS or RTMP address of the stream (blanked out for privacy purposes in the photo).
(For 9.5 to 9.6) To customize which Tuners you would like to be notified about:
- Simply select the tuners you want to get notified about and deselect the tuners you do not want to get notified about.
To customize which Events you would like to be notified about:
- Simply toggle On the Events you want to get notified about and toggle Off the Events you do not want to get notified about. A description of the events is mentioned below.
- System
- Catch-all. All that are not killed recordings
- Stream
- Killed recordings, couldn't start, etc. for any tuners. Then enable the individual tuners to subscribe to them
- Video
- Nothing that triggers this right now
- Audio
- Nothing that triggers this right now
- Captions
- Warn on Recording Stopped Without Closed Caption Data
- Warn on Recording In-Progress Without Closed Caption Data
- Warn on Recording With Garbled Caption Data
- No captions at end of recording or beginning of recordings or garbled captions. If enabled in the Recordings section:
