Tweets do not appear on timelines unless re-tweeted

Issue or Problem:

When tweeting, you can easily pull up the tweet by using the link in the SnapStream WebUI, but can't find it on your timeline when signing into twitter directly.

Cause:

This can be caused when your tweet begins with "@".  This could potentially cause twitter to assume that you are engaged in a conversation w/ another twitter user.  When this is the case, only followers of both you and the user will see the tweet in their timeline.

Solution:

Re-word your tweet so that it does not start with "@" if you want to avoid the need to re-tweet it for greater visibility.  Otherwise, only twitter users that follow both you and the user you are starting your tweet with will see it.

Additional Notes:

see the note under mentions here (quoted below) to see how twitter interprets this:  https://help.twitter.com/en/using-twitter/types-of-tweets

"Note: When you post a Tweet beginning with a username, only people who follow both you and the account you are mentioning will see the Tweet in their Home timeline. If you’d like all of your followers to see the Tweet, the best way is to Retweet or Quote Tweet."
