Managing Multiple Social Media Accounts in SnapStream

Question:

Are multiple accounts supported for Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube?

Answer:

Yes, SnapStream users with the correct SnapStream permissions can add and configure multiple accounts for Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.  Permissions can also be set on each of these accounts to determine which users will see them available for posting to.

Let's take a moment to talk about the two different access levels of social media accounts to use, and how they can be added.

  1. Global Social Media Accounts: These are accounts that are added to the SnapStream configuration that all SnapStream users could potentially have access to.
NOTE:  Global Accounts can also have permissions set to determine what specific SnapStream users will see them available for use.
    • If the user has the SnapStream permission to Administer Server Settings and the Manage All Users' Social Media Account, the user sets this up by going to the SnapStream WebUI > Admin > External Accounts
    • Adding the relevant type of Social Media Account from here, will add the account at the Global level and you can Grant Access to Everyone, specific SnapStream security groups like Administrators, or specific users.  More than one entry can be specified.
  2. Personal Social Media Accounts:  These accounts are setup on a specific user's SnapStream User Profile.  Only that user will see it as an option to post to.
    • If the user has the SnapStream permission to Add Personal X Account, the user sets this up by going to the profile icon in the top right corner of the WebUI > Profile Settings.
    • Then scroll to the bottom of the Profile Settings page to add the accounts needed.
NOTE: These options will not appear if the user does not have the Add Personal X Account SnapStream permission.
  3. SnapStream users will be able to select which social media account name they would like to use from the relevant drop-down menu when trying to post content from SnapStream. If a user doesn't have permission to post to a certain account, it won’t appear in your drop-down options.

Additional Notes:

If you are unable to see these options, you will need to contact your SnapStream Administrator for assistance in making social media accounts available to you.  The SnapStream Security group your user account is in probably doesn't have the relevant permissions below turned on.

More information about SnapStream Security Group permissions can be found here:  User Permissions listed in SnapStream Security Groups.
