What are the different ways to export TV content out of SnapStream?

TV recordings, streamed content, and clips can be exported out of SnapStream to different export locations including attached storage, external and cloud storage, and content management systems.

Exports can be performed manually from the Library, or they can be automated through the use of custom Workflows.

Use of the Export option does not affect the file availability in the Snapstream Web User Interface.  A copy of the file is sent to the chosen location, but the original file will remain until deleted from the system.

NOTE: In order to preserve the closed captioning information in the SRT files, it will be necessary to select the "Copy Auxiliary Files" option upon export.

Below is a current list of available Export destinations that can be configured and integrated with Snapstream:

  • Amazon S3
  • Box
  • Brightcove
  • Dropbox
  • Local Folder (or UNC path)
  • Frame.io
  • FTP
  • Google Cloud Storage
  • Google Drive
  • JW Platform
  • Kaltura
  • Microsoft Azure Blob
  • Microsoft OneDrive
  • Ooyala
  • SFTP
  • Sony Ci
  • Vimeo

The following options are available when exporting video files from SnapStream:

Copy Auxiliary Files- copies any sidecar files available along with the video file, including closed caption and video thumbnail files
Create Metadata XML- creates an XML file including video metadata from the SnapStream database and copies it along with the video file
Remove Metadata From File- strips metadata from the video file before copying
Upload Thumbnail- copies the video thumbnail file only along with the video file

Additional Notes:

Configuring these export locations can involve two different sections of the SnapStream WebUI:

  1. Admin > External Accounts
  2. Admin > Folders (in the Export Destinations section)

For some types of web-driven storage solutions, it may be necessary to set up the External Account first before you can set up the export folder in Admin > Folders (Export Destinations).

If you require assistance with configuring any of these, please reach out to [email protected] and a technician will be happy to help where possible.
